Normally I dislike sequels and triquels(?), because they rarely measure up to the standards of the original. There are a few exceptions to this, but the majority of the time, you’re not missing much. In this case though, well, you decide.

Before I go on, here are the links to my previous macro articles. If you haven’t read them yet, I recommend you do, because I explain in them the focus modifier, as well as some other macro basics.

Part Three - Amp’d Curse of Doom, Felhunter Spell Lock/Devour Magic, Rogue Pickpocket+Sap.

Amp’d Curse of Doom

Nothing beats watching a 5k+ hit from a Curse of Doom on a boss, until you cast Amplify Curse before casting Curse of Doom [CoD] and seeing that hit skyrocket. Amplify Curse has no extra ranks of the spell, but it’s standard fare is more than enough.

One of the bad things about Amplify Curse is that it’s on a 3-minute cooldown, which means that, in a Boss environment, you can only cast it once out of every three CoD’s you do (assuming you chain them when they go off). Another bad thing is that I always forget to cast it before casting my curse, and remembering about five seconds after the curse is cast. Then I spend the next 55-seconds wondering “Should I cast Amp Curse then recast CoD, or wait until this one procs then cast it, or … “.

Now, you don’t have to be like me, you can have it cast automatically when it’s up! Here we go.

#showtooltip Curse of Doom
/cast Amplify Curse
/stopcasting
/cast Curse of Doom

Let’s break it down (why do I always think of rap music when I say that?)

#showtooltip Curse of Doom
This is different to our previous #showtooltips, in that we specify the spell we want to be shown. If we left it as just #showtooltip, then the icon would show Amplify Curse, whether it’s on cooldown or not. This way, you can have it show the curse that will be cast, no matter if Amp Curse if on cooldown or not.

/cast Amplify Curse
No brainer. Casts Amplify Curse

/stopcasting
Possibly not needed since the macro changes in 2.2 or 2.3, but it doesn’t hurt to leave this in. Does exactly what it says it will do, it stops casting whatever you are currently casting.

/cast Curse of Doom
And this then casts Curse of Doom. Amplify Curse doesn’t trigger the Global Cooldown, so this will cast automatically. If Amplify Curse is on cooldown, then this will cast anyway. You will get a UI Error message if it IS on cooldown (same as if you tried to cast any spell/ability that was on cooldown) but it won’t stop CoD from casting.

And that’s it! You can use this for Curse of Agony as well, and even Curse of Exhaustion. Have fun!

Felhunter Spell Lock/Devour Magic

For those who aren’t experts in pet micromanagement, these macros will come in handy. I always, without fail, forget to use my Felhunter to the best of my ability in PvP, and he almost never sees the light of day in PvE. But he can be a real force to be reckoned with if you have his key abilities macro’d.

Here they are:

Devour Magic

#showtooltip Devour Magic
/cast [modifier:shift, pet:Felhunter] Devour Magic; [pet:Felhunter, target=player] Devour Magic

Holding down the Shift key while activating this macro will cause the felhunter (if he exists) to use Devour Magic on your current target. If you don’t hold down any keys he will cast it on you. If you don’t have the Felhunter out this macro won’t do a thing.

Spell Lock

#showtooltip Spell Lock
/clearfocus [modifier:shift]
/focus [target=focus, noexists]
/cast [nomodifer, pet:Felhunter, target=focus, harm] Spell Lock; [modifier:ctrl, pet:Felhunter, target=mouseover, harm] Spell Lock

Another focus-using macro!

/clearfocus [modifier: shift]
If we hold down the Shift key, it will clear our current focus.

/focus [target=focus, noexists]
If we don’t have a focus, or our current focus doesn’t exist (or is dead), then assign our current target as our focus.

/cast [nomodifier, pet:Felhunter, target=focus, harm] Spell Lock;
If we have our Felhunter our, not holding down any modifier keys, and our focused target is an enemy, then our trusty dog will cast Spell Lock on it.

[modifier:ctrl, pet:Felhunter, target=mouseover, harm] Spell Lock
Introducing another modifier here: mouseover. It means exactly how it reads. If you hold down the CTRL key, then it instructs your pet to ignore your focus, and casts Spell Lock on the target you are currently holding your mouse over. It doesn’t change your target at all. Useful if you are focusing on the rogue, and you see his healer start to cast a heal.

Rogue’s Pickpocket+Sap=WIN!

Delving into my macros, I found one I had written on my Rogue. I am terrible at remembering to pickpocket, and even which mobs I can pickpocket and those I can’t (I’m lucky I remember my wife’s name sometimes). Anyway, this makes things ALOT easier, AND it’s useable as soon as you get to level 10.

#showtooltip Sap
/cast Sap
/cast Pick Pocket

Again, #showtooltip Sap will show Sap, no matter what.

/cast Sap
This casts Sap. Bet you didn’t expect that, did you?

/cast Pick Pocket
This one deletes your character and sends all your gold to the next person who begs in Trade. No, seriously, it casts Pick Pocket.

In order for this one to work effectively, you should have AutoLoot turned on in your General Options. Yes, you will get a fuller bag sooner, but it will be filled with rogue reagents and lockboxes galore. A great money-maker that you can use from level 10.

That’s about it for today. As always, you can check out the Useful Macros section at WowWiki, they have alot of great ones there for all classes. And feel free to experiment, change a spell here and there, see what works and what doesn’t. If a macro that you are trying doesn’t work, then the worst it’s going to do is … not work. It won’t delete your character or anything terri-bad, so have fun!
